 MARVEL To Leave Universal for WDW: My Concept’s For a Marvel themed Land and Attractions for Disney World if Marvel Superhero Island Closes at Universal Orlando Resort

Hello Readers,

Recently a new Rumor, filled my head with Ideas. Youtuber Tom Corless of WDWNT(Walt Disney World News Today) reported on a video on their Universal News Today channel, in regards to a rumor that Universal Orlando Resort, may be planning on replacing Marvel Superhero Island. This is important as Universal owns certain theme park rights to use Marvel Comics IP in theme parks east of the mississippi rive, in perpetuity, unless they violate said contract.  By replacing Marvel Superhero Island, they would indeed be violating their contract with Marvel, making their ownership of the Marvel Comic’s IP nol and void.  

If this is the case, a Marvel themed land could be brought to WDW, as soon as 3-5 years following the closure and replacement of Marvel Superhero Island at Universal’s Islands of Adventure Park, so this got me thinking, on what kind of original attractions Disney can create in a Marvel themed land within WDW(Walt Disney World Florida).

Yes, I am aware of Avengers Campus, but I am opposed to Disney copying and pasting attractions and redoing what they have already done elsewhere from California to Florida, in most cases, however if Disney were to replicate all of the attractions that already exist in California and bring them to Florida, I wouldn’t be upset, however Marvel is such a massive IP and the Universe is ever expanding, hence why for my concept, I have decided to delve deep into what a themed land in Florida can be. 

THE AVENGERS/SHEILD HOTEL 

As mentioned in an article I wrote earlier this week,I had developed a concept regarding a Marvel Universe Hotel. If you wish to read this article please feel free to check my article titled Hotel Concepts for WDW. However I would like to add if Disney did build a land this hotel can be connected to this land similar to how the Galactic Star Cruiser is with Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge(here also to hoping it reopens). 

A Land Set in the MARVEL UNIVERSE-The Multiverse of possibilities.

Location?

The best way to theme a land is to figure out where to place this new Immersive and exciting land. 

To begin Animal Kingdom is out of the question for this concept, as Animals/Natrue and Marvel don’t exactly mix, and Magic Kingdom is already being expanded with Cars(you may already know my feelings on that) and Villains Land Beyond Thunder Mountain, and Marvel wouldn’t exactly fit in this park. This leaves us with two  options, Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Many would say, their first instinct would be to place it in Epcot near Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, since Marvel is currently already technically located in this park. Epcot is in need of a variety of attractions within the park as it is being one of the few parks to only have 7 rides, the least of all of the Disney Parks, however. I don’t feel that sacrificing Parking lot space for a new land is in the best interest of WDW, at this time. 

So that means by default i think it belongs in Hollywood Studios. Unfortunately, not. Hollywood Studios is already oversaturated and we don’t want fans of Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, or Rock’n Roller Coaster upset as that is where it would fit the best, but we don’t want to retheme those beloved attractions(unless were talking my muppets land concept). 

So that leaves my third option. 

As many of you may know, I have released many articles in regards to Disney opening their fifth gate, and as the historians among us know, WDW currently sits on 1/3rd of the land Disney actually owns within Central Florida and is believed that just under 1/3rd of the land that is owned is also, natural wildlife preservation land. That means there is still 1/3rd of the land open for new projects and construction, including my fifth gate concept. 

In a previous article I discussed Star Wars taking up the entirety of the fifth gate,but with this news about Universal dropping their Marvel IP, this gives me hope of a fifth gate containing a Star Wars Expansion, and now a park for Marvel to exist in as well. Therefore, this could be an opportunity, to spend money to make money, a fifth gate for Disney is the only way to give Marvel Justice, especially in the current state of Immersive experiences within WDW and their competitors. 

Therefore my argument is that Disney make not just one Marvel themed land but perhaps sharing space with the Star Wars Park concept, I had written about in a previous article, Disney should make Marvel too into its own Park. 

The Lands:

The Main Street: New York:

The first land on this list is New York, home to Avengers Tower, Hell's Kitchen, The Daily Bugle, and majority of the bases of our favorite Marvel Superheroes. The goal of this land is to provide a level of immersion unlike any other and we want guests to truly live and enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Therefore, we want to build a New York as our Main Street, and have exciting ways to travel between the lands within this theme park.

Manhattan

The main story of the Avengers and center of this Park will be Avengers Tower, the city around it in turmoil with overwhelmed police, mass crime, and discord surrounding it. Guests will participate, as spectators within this realm but also as participants being placed in the center of the action. 

Attraction’s:

SHIELD Recruitment Center:from here guests can board a Quin Jet to the SHIELD Academy. Or take Doctor Fitz’s experimental wormhole machine

SCARE and STUNT ACTORS-Disney will utilize Scare and Stunt Actors, and animatronics, to bring this land to life, creating the lawless area. The Superheroes, will also be walking, and swinging around in land, to arrive and interact with guests unlike ever before, centering guests right into the action.  By utilizing these actors guests will feel truely immersed unlike ever before.

Roger’s the Musical Theater:

Avenger’s Tower Attraction:

Story: Guests are brought on a Tour of Avengers Tower, but they end up needing to evacuate and save New York

Cue A: guest enter the Stark Tower and are shown different rooms, however there are hints at something bigger going on including an alien invasion, since the Tesseract is missing. Guests walk through the lobby then to an elevator that will take them to the Armory.

Pre Show A: the elevator, guests will enter an elevator, when they hear a safety and security transmission from Happy Hogan(Jon Favreau) accompanied by F.R.I.D.A.Y. Tony is running late, but he will be meeting guests in the Armory

Cue B:guests pass through the living quarters of the Avengers, seeing Cap’s New Shield, Thor’s Magic Belt, and some of Hawk Eye and Black Widow’s Amunition and gear. They soon reach the Armory. 

Preshow B: In the Armory, Guests will encounter Happy Hogan(Jon Favreau), who is there as Iron Man’s Bodyguard. Happy is show casing the new Stark Tech Transport, shuttle. The roof suddenly opens and Iron Man flies into the room. Suddenly there is a power fluctuation and it is revealed that there is an Alien invasion. Happy is informed to get Guests to the emergency vehicles to get them out of the tower “they picked one hell of a day to take a tour”

Cue C: guests pass into the garages where they are loaded onto the new Stark Transports.

Ride: in my head this ride will be similar to Star Tours. Guests will leave Stark Tower, accompanied by Iron Man, and encounter The Chitauri. However whom they encounter will be different every single time they ride.  

Option A:

• Captain America and Falcon: guests will make a wrong turn when escaping and will plummet to the ground where Captain America is helping Civillians escape the attacks from the ground. He asks Falcon to fly guests to safety

• Black Widow and Hawkeye: guests fly off through the city, fighting Chitauri, Black Widow is in trouble and they save her. Widow stands on the front of the transport fighting aliens on the front of the dash. The breaks however are jammed and Hawkeye has to stop the jam with an arrow. Hawkeye and Widow need to evacuate more civilians, and recruit guests to go help. 

• Spiderman: Guests are flying getting as far away from the city as possible when a Leviathan flies out right in front of them, Guests are knocked down, and are attacked by rioters, and looters, and Spider Man arrives to save the day, using his webs to defend them

• Nick Fury and Maria Hill: guest encounter a helicarrier in danger and go to assist the helicarrier, Nick Fury and Maria Hill are fighting aliens.

• Black Panther and Okoye: a distress signal from the Wakandan Embassy, causes guests to fly through the streets past the aliens to assist the Dora Milaje and Black Panther in their fight.

• Ant Man and Wasp: Guests are about to get crushed by Leviathan, when they are shrunken by Pym Particles and follow, Wasp, and Antman as they fight against the invaders.

The ride then continues as Guests fly through the city, seeing the aliens when suddenly a much larger threat Appears. Suddenly the villain will be easily defeated by option B

Option B:

• Hulk: Hulk jumps into frame and smashes the villain, and seeing the guests in danger, he lifts up the vehicle and throws them to safety.

• Thor: Thor throws Mjolnir at the enemy, and then uses his hammer to fire lightning into the arc reactor, reactivating the transports engines allowing guests to escape

• Vision: vision easily slices through and cuts down the enemy. He reminds guests its unsafe, phasing through the front of the vehicle and taking control, using his ability to talk to technology to get guests out of the situation.

• Doctor Strange and Wong: guests fly through a portal, through a the mirror dimension rescued by Doctor Strange and Wong, who mention to visit them on Bleecker Street Sometime,before teleporting guests again.

• Captain Marvel and Miss Marvel: the villain is blasted by Captain Marvel, who turns to Kamala and tells her to get the guests out of there, Guests Watch as Captain Marvel fights the villain Kamala holds guests in her energy hand pulling them out of danger.

From there guests will meet up with Iron Man again, who says “avengers Assemble”, all of the Avengers come together to face off against the villains

Conclusion: an avengers victory.

• Funny ending: guests speed back into the garage nearly hitting Stan Lee.

• Scary ending: guests go through the portal the aliens are coming from get a transmission from Thanos and fire a missile at his ship

• Shawarma ending: guests land in the garage, Iron Man asks who wants Shwarma

• Rescued by the Hulk: guests speed into the hanger, but their breaks are broken, Hulk Jumps in front of their transport and saves them.

Tony Stark Always reminds Guests, to exit through the gift shop as they leave.

Bleecker Street

Attraction

The Sanctum Sanctorum:

• Cue A: guest enter the Sanctum and walk up the stairs to the hall of treasures where the Cape of Levitation was found in the film. Passing through the treasure hall. They will explore the sanctum.

• Preshow: Wong is dusting some books(if a magic band that went on the Avengers ride enters the interaction may be different slightly) Wong explains that this is the library, but Steven should be returning shortly he is out getting him food from the Deli, suddenly America Chavez appears. Guests are shocked to learn that there is a problem in the multiverse and she needs Guest's help.America opens a portal through the multiverse for guests to follow her through, she tells Wong to tell Steven to meet up with them as soon as he is available. Wong explains that it’s not safe, so he better come with and leaves Steven A Note.

• Cue B: guests learn a little about the device that they will be boarding to travel through the multiverse, with Wong and America.

• Ride: Mechanical Arm ride: Guests will board the device and be lifted into the muli-verse by America.

• Guests rendezvous with Wong and America, as they pass through another portal into the multiverse.

• The guests take flight through the multiverse encountering strange creatures and villains, Including Mordo, and Dormammu.

• Eventually the guests will face a creature they can’t defeat, Doctor Strange will arrive and save guests, before sending them back to the Sanctum.

Kingpin’s Casino:

This is an arcade, similar to the one that currently exists in Marvel Superhero Island, inside will be a Kingpin meet and greet and a villains dining experience

Daredevil and the Defenders Attraction:

Guests will team up with Daredevil and the Defenders to bring down one of Kingpin’s schemes aboard this attraction.

Cue: guests will enter into the law offices of Nelson and Murdock, and then into the back alley. Guests are teamed up the the Hell’s Kitchen Police Precinct who are hunting down vigilante’s   

Ride: this is a Dark Ride attraction that will take guests through hell's kitchen encountering the likes of Electra, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Daredevil as well as the Hand and Kingpin. 

The Punisher Attraction

On this dark ride Guests will team up with the Iconic Vigilante the Punisher on a mission to bring down Jigsaw. This dark ride is meant to be the scariest darkride in the park and will be a darker theme using new technology and animatronics as well as digital technologies to tell a dark story within the park.

Blade Attraction

On this highly themed Coaster, Guests will team up with Blade, on a motorbike journey to hunt down Vampires, as well as an encounter with Dracula and Deacon Frost. This will be dark, and utilize jump scares and thrills, as well as be an indoor roller coaster attraction.

SPIDERMAN:Web Slingers

Cue A:guests will enter into Midtown School of Science and Technology for a Science, Fair. the fair however is open to young geniuses from around the country. Including Harley Keener, Ree Ree Williams and of course Peter Parker. Hank Pym is set to be judging it alongside Tony and this ride will show case this new tech in an exciting a cool way.

Preshow A: guests will enter into a classroom where they are supposed to be receiving a lecture from a teacher, but the teacher is late and instead, Peter arrives and informs guests, that he wants to show them the Science Fair Floor. 

Cue B: guests walk into the science fair and through the doors, where experiments by both the midtown students and the others are all around the place, but the students are missing.

Pre Show B: guests eventually make it to the back room where, Peter, unveils the STARK Industries Webslinger Vehicle, however something goes wrong as the Spiderbots, go bad, soon Peter gets a call from Tony, who is furious and he and the guests must team up to find out what is going on.

Cue C: guests make their way to the loading dock where Stark Industries, recruits guests to board the Webslinger Vehicles 

Ride:will be a new but similar rendition of Spiderman Web Slingers at Disneyland.

Attractions:

The Bifrost Bridge To Asgard: guests can walk across the bifrost bridge and be teleported to Asgard.

Ancient Secrets of Kamar Taj Magic Show:A show featuring Ancient one Wong and Doctor Strange

Into the Dark Dimension

Story: Guests are Sorcerors at Kamar Taj and must team up with Doctor Strange and his allies to face Dormammu

Cue a:guests enter the sanctuary of the Ancient One, and explore the gardens of Kamar Taj

Pre Show A:guests are welcomed and greeted by the Ancient One, who ensures guests will be well trained by the other Sorcerors

Cue b:guests continue their journey through the many rooms of Kamar Taj

Pre Show B: guests are taught how to use a sling ring, as well as how to use their energy to use magic, by Wong.

Cue  c: guests make their way to the library

Preshow C: the library is broken into by Mordo, who seeks to use the power of the Dark Dimension. Guests are frozen in place, and rescued by Doctor Strange and Ancient One.

Cue d: guests go after the stolen knowledge.

Ride: guests will board a glider ride vehicle(that is based on the cloak of levitation) and follow Doctor Strange and Ancient One into the Dark Dimension encountering creatures and bargaining with the Time Stone against Dormammu.

• This ride is a shooter attraction where guests were supposed to be training in moving combat but it soon turns into a field mission, where guests must face, HYDRA under the command of Arnim Zola.

• Captain America Ride: guests will enter into the CAPTAIN AMERICA MUSEUM and take a guided tour of the hero that is Steve Rogers, guests will then board a ride vehicle that will start out as a Winnie the Pooh/Carouself of Progress Dark Ride, taking guests through the history of Captain America, but soon turns into a epic thrill ride,back to WWII, into iconic moments from the Captain America: the First Avenger Film, and perhaps some scenes that were left out.

Loki Attraction: guests join Loki and create chaos for the guests on the Thor attraction, a walkthrough scepter/shooter attraction where guests use Loki’s sorcery and invisibility to effect the riders on the Thor Attraction.

Conclusion:

While not the most in depth detail concept, I think this can be an exciting new park, when combined with my former Star Wars Expansion concept. 

Readers, Do you think a Marvel Park, with original rides as well as ported over rides is too much or would you prefer a land with all the current attractions, over the concept of a full size park.
