EXTRA TERRESTRIAL ALIEN ENCOUNTER THEATER: MY CONCEPT OF WHAT SHOULD GO THERE.
Hello Readers, today I would like to discuss a concept for a ride in Tommorow Land what has always been super controversial a space, that once housed the scariest ride in Disney Extraterrestrial Alien Encounter, and then Stiches’ Great Escape(deemed maybe the grosses attraction in Disney History). This theater space is still there as are the signs for Stiches Great escape as of my last visit to Magic Kingdom, and I want to discuss what can go in there, since now it is viewed by myself and others as a waste of space in tomorrowland.
ALIEN: A WALK THROUGH HORROR ATTRACTION(BASED ON RIDLEY SCOTT’S ALIEN FRANCHISE)
If disney wishes to reopen something set in the horror genre, then they should look no further than to bringing their newly acquired franchise Alien into Tomorrowland. While i would argue this is the less likely concept I have ever developed, due to the adult nature and aspect of terror that it can provide, I would argue that they did build Extraterrestrial Alien Encounter, but that was under Michael Eisner.
As for what this concept would entail however is simple, guests will visit the Weyland Corporation offices in Tomorrowland, where a ship that went missing (the Nostromo) has finally made its way back to earth, however, as it docks something escapes the ship and the Xenomorph is unleashed, guests must then escape the Weyland Corporation offices with a Xenomorph on the loose in the building. Guests will encounter not only the Xenomorph but security forces with special effects attempting to keep guests safe, as well as perhaps Ripley(the heroine from the Alien series) as they walk through the attraction to the exit.
As we know this space isn’t really that large and has limited space in and out of it, a walkthrough attraction would be the only thing aside from a show that would fit into this small area, that is once again vacant within Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom.
TITAN AE(SINCE THEY BOUGHT 20TH CENTURY FOX)
Still along the horror path with Disney’s Acquisition of Fox, perhaps the show can come back in a way but this time guests would be transported to the embassy of Planet “Bob”, and have to fight off the Drej, the wicked alien race from Titan AE, in this walkthrough attraction.
ROBOTS(SINCE THEY BOUGHT 20TH CENTURY FOX)
As far as IP’s that Disney owns goes perhaps a less scary IP would be better in the lighthearted land of Tomorrow. With Disney’s Acquisition of 20th century fox they also obtained the rights to the film franchise Robots, and perhaps a walkthrough of Bigwelds new Tomorrowland hub could be fun for guests , acting as an escape room experience where guests must use their critical thinking and building skills lead by Rodney Copperbottom and his friends.
MUPPETS: PIGS IN SPACE meets Muppets from Space?
Disney has many IP’s that could fill this space one concept that came to mind was based off a sketch from the old Muppet Show, Pigs in Space. Guests would board the Swinetrek and enter into the theater which would now be a show featuring Captain Link Hogthrob,First Mate(Miss) Piggy, and Dr. Julius Strangepork, with Gonzo and his people joining the mix for a comedy show, with special effects and muppets animatronics as they adventure across the galaxy for a 5-10 minute journey to Gonzo’s homeworld(a reference to Muppets from Space).
MEET THE ROBINSONS
Following the concept of Robots, perhaps Disney would rather do something that they helped create. Meet the Robinsons was a film that was perfect for Tommorowland, seemingly designed to be featured in some capacity. Guests would enter either the time machine or Mr. Robinsons(Adult Lewis’) lab and something goes wrong when trying to fix the Bowler Hat. this could be both funny and scary providing a unique show that is potentially all disney.
WALL-E
If not that particular Disney-Pixar Story then perhaps WALL-E will finally make his way to the parks. Guests enter the Buy-N-Large Corporation Enclave, where they are presented a show by Wall-E and friends(MO and of Course EVE) about taking care of the earth, when it is taken over by AUTOPILOT.
THE INCREDIBLES
For this concept Disney can go in many ways, one concept I have involves guests joining Edna Mode as she demonstrates the Superhero Fashion Show, sort of a Turtle Talk With Edna Mode, featuring other Characters from the incredibles. The next concept involves guests riding inside the Omnidroid, captured by Syndrome, while he attacks Tommorowland as the Incredibles attempt to save them. The Incredibles is so beloved and I think many guests would love to see them in the Parks especially in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom.
ANT-MAN
While Universal May Own the rights to the Avengers, I am still uncertain as to what the stance on ANT-MAN in particular is, perhaps guests enter PYM LABS in Tomorrowland , for a demonstration of the Pym Particles that goes extremely Wrong, Guests are shrunk down by the pym particles and enter the Quantum Realm, where they are invaded by some sort of creature, it's up to Ant-man, The Wasp and Cassie Lang to assist in rescuing guests, and returning them to their proper size.
LUDWIG VON DRAKE LABORATORY SHOW
Disney also has recently begun adding rides that are connected to the Mickey Mouse World, and perhaps this is just what tomorrowland needs, perhaps its time Guests get to enter the laboratory of Ludwig Von Drake, the professor from the Mickey Mouse Cartoons, with a flying tour of Tomorrowland in order to stop, and Capture Mortimer Mouse from ruining Guests Vacations. The ride can feature multiple digital cartoons appearing in the central tube as they use a tractor beam to capture Mortimer Mouse as they journey around the park Including: Donald Duck, Stitch, Buzz Lightyear, Goofy, Pete, Mike Wazowski and perhaps more?
Conclusion:ANYTHING THAT ISN’T BIG NAME IP
It is my opinion that this location in tomorrowland is a waste of space that could be used to house another show attraction and with limited effort disney can place anything into this small space, be it a new rendition of the show, a walkthrough attraction or even something has thrills and comedy in a way that is entertaining and not completely disgusting or terrifying for guests. Disney Imagineering has many wonderful creatives, and as a person who aspires to one day work with them in concept development, I say its a “great big beautiful Tomorrow” and “its just a dream away.”
