HOTEL CONCEPTS for WDW

 Hello Reader,

As a fan of the Disney Parks, I frequently talk about the parks, and attractions at Walt Disney World, and rarely about the Hotels themselves( The Galactic Star Cruiser Excluded). Upon my last visit my partner, and I were discussing what Disney, considers the hotels around each park. Coronado Springs and the All star Hotels apparently belong to Animal Kingdom, and Boardwalk, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera are considered Epcot area,Disney Springs has hotels such as Saratoga Springs, and the Port Orleans, and Magic Kingdom, is self explanatory. We found an interesting conundrum, a critique that I thought quite odd. Why does Hollywood Studios technically not have any hotels, meant for that park in particular.

Yes  Art of Animation is my #1 favorite Disney Hotel, but is it really a Hollywood Studios Hotel?

In this article I aim to discuss some concepts for new hotels within the Walt Disney World Resort.

1: A Return to the Twilight Zone, A Disneyfied- Horror Hotel

As you may not know historically, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was originally conceptualized to be Part Hotel, Part Attraction. Upon the realization, people cannot relax with screaming outside their window, the Imagineering team scrapped the real Hotel of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, and instead stuck with the Staple of Hollywood Studios, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Going back to Hollywood Studios’ Roots, this concept would be a Hotel themed around the darker cult favorite attractions of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and The Haunted Mansion.

Imagine stepping foot into a old Hollywood Hotel, that is built within the realm of the Haunted Mansion, by the fan claimed “ Master Gracey”, it is a hotel of class, timelessly set in the Hollywood of the 1930’s-1920’s, with highly themed sounds and glamour within its halls.

This hotel specializes in Halloween, celebrating the holiday everyday, with candy events, Pumpkin Carving Competitions and trees and decor that remind us of the Fall Festivals, stuck in a liminal space in time.

The Elevators:

While the elevators may not be able to drop like the Tower of Terror, these elevators could be highly themed with quirky paintings, or perhaps, Madame Leota’s voice as they are lifted by spirits to regions beyond.

The Rooms:

The rooms will be similar to most Disney Hotel Rooms, except with features that glow in the dark, at nighttime. Perhaps comical yet scary images line the walls, and Gargoyles light the room.

Pool Amenities:

The pool area just in the center of the park is outdoor and pays homage to characters such as the HitchHiking Ghosts, Tower of Terror and other friendly haunts from Disney past.

Dining

Perhaps the part of this most exciting would be the dining options at this hotel.

1: Character Services: Buffet

Every good disney hotel needs a buffet, this one however would be set in a parlor/dining room, and the lights can flicker and characters, such as The Hitchhiking Ghosts, The Hat Box Ghost,Jack Skellington, Sally(From nightmare before Christmas), Oogie Boogie, The Sanderson Sisters, and other characters from Disney’s for Chilling Features can make appearances.

2: The Bar

The bar will take inspiration from the Haunted Mansion themed Bar on the Disney Cruise Line. Where The Pictures Change and familiar haunts appear. With specialty drinks based around The Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror as well as the spookier franchises under the Disney Umbrella.

3: The Quick Service:

Unlike other Disney Hotels, the Quick services should feature a variety of foods from all over America, focusing particularly on the haunting sites of famous haunted locations: Amityville, New Orleans, and Roanoke. This then can also have a spin attaching it to the hollywood theming of the hotel as well, connecting it to Melrose, and the Hollywood Strip, creating a sense of classical hollywood within its dining area.

The Museum Concept:

As a fan of Disney, and a scholar I know their are rules with Disney in regards to using Voodoo and WitchCraft, but I would like to point out that Disney, has a unique opportunity to acquire certain, items that have recently become stuck within a certain Museum, in Monroe Conneticut. While younger guests might not care or believe in the super natural, perhaps a tourist trap of using real super natural items, can prove useful to this hotel concept, placing a Museum of the Weird( a concept developed by Roly Krump for Disney Land that was never used) and then with it, attach the actual artifacts connected to these true hauntings, creating a one of a kind museum within the hotel.

2: Neverland

Since the year 1953 Peter Pan has existed to be Disney’s most popular animated film of all time and this is why the Line to meet Characters such as Peter, Wendy and Hook in the parks have become staples of a Disney Vacation for many guests. My argument is Disney Should Capitalize on the popularity of Peter Pan.

Unlike many of my other concepts in my article this idea will be more immersive, as compared to my other hotel concepts, and alot larger than the average Disney Hotel as well.

The Drive Up:

Guests will arrive at a facade of London straight out of the 1950’s Cartoon, greeted by a gardens, bridges resembling the London Bridge, and a Big Ben Clock Tower.

The Lobby:

The Hotel Lobby will be England Themed and will include a Pub, a tea Shop, a gift shop, and will resemble the world of J.M Berry’s Peter Pan.

Guests will check in, in the lobby and be ushered to the elevators, which will take them to the second floor.

The rest of the Hotel is being set up on this second floor.

The Elevators

Guests will enter the elevator where a small show including a cameo by Peter and Tinkerbell occurs, as the elevator lifts guests from London, to the familiar island using Pixie Dust.

The Hotel:

Guests will soon arrive in the fantasy world of Neverland, out of their Elevator and into a massive outdoor, setting, that is built on the second floor of the main building. The hotel will have multiple buildings, set to different factions within the world of Peter Pan.

The Pirates,The Lost Boys,The Indians(they aren’t native americans, they’re native Neverlandians?Neverlandy? It was never explained) ,and Pixie Hollow.

All connected by a lazy river that runs to all the sections of the hotel.

The Pirate section:

The pirates section will be surrounded by a wave pool, and be set as an escape where Captain Hook would go to relax, when not aboard the Jolly Roger. it will be seafarer themed with beds shaped like pirate ships and no clocks will exist in this section.

Dining:

1: Smee’s Bar

A lively place where guests can enjoy the libations of the sea, with recipes made by Mister Smee, set within the First Mates, own little taste of paradise. It will include windows that show, images of Peter Pan, have firing cannons for the little ones, and the only spot where guest might see Tick Tock the Croc.

2: The Jolly Roger Restaurant

This Character Dining experience, is a Seafood, and pirate themed restaurant, set aboard the Jolly Roger, Captain Hooks Pirate Ship and will have entertainment such as the occasional appearance of Captain Hook and Mr. Smee as guests are waited on by his pirate crew who party, sing and dance.

3: The Pirates Lounge

The pirates lounge is a quieter place, its a fine dining restaurant with Piano music, and comedians, where guests can relax and enjoy.

Pool Amenities:

1: the Skull Rock and Jolly Roger Water Playground

For the younger guests, there is the pirate training camp, a water playground set in skull rock with a small Pirate Ship for them to play in, and learn to be pirates

2: The Wave Pool: the wave pool will be accessible to all guests and will surround the Pirate Section as a replica of the Sea for all guests, to create a relaxing environment. However for those seeking to face the waves they are more than allowed to enter the Wave pool along the replica beach.

Spa:

As we all know Captain Hook gets alot of Self Care, Mr. Smee in particular takes care of him so for the adults, there will be a Spa in this section for them to be pampered like the Captain.

The Lost Boys Rooms

The Rooms:

The lost boys live around Deadman’s tree, and their rooms, will be larger suites with beds inspired by each of the lost Boys. these rooms will have magical secrets and excitement for younger guests.

Amenities:

Trails:

The lost boys area will have a nature trail that connects to the Indian Rooms and Pixie Hollow, the will include a variety of fun facts, on Nature and statues/figurines of the Lost Boys as guest walk throughit

Pool Amenities:

1: Following the Leader Path: this is a water area, similar to the monkey bars at some water parks for all ages, and will include sprinkler fun and other fun amenities for guests who wish to live out the experience of following the leader through neverland.

2:The Lazy river:

The lazy river will have a connecting stop here in the Lost Boys area and will feature elements from the Peter Pan Franchises, such as Tick Tock, and the Octopus from Peter Pan 2:return to neverland.

3:Slide Pool:

the slide pool will have a waterslide from the top of the mountains that are central in Neverland and guests will be able to slide down the water falls of neverland into a lagoon at the bottom.

4: Mermaid Lagoon Pool:

The mermaid lagoon pool is just as it sounds a regular pool themed after the mermaids included in this section of the hotel.

The Indian’s Rooms

The Rooms:

These rooms will be outdoor, Teepee Cabins themed with Native american Lore, and culture and will have connecting paths to the nature trails and other areas.

Dining:

This dining experience will be similar to Ohana, but instead will feature Peter Pan, John, Tiger Lily, The Chief and Wendy, as a feast around the fire pit, straight from the “native dance” sequence from the 1950’s Peter Pan film. This will be family style served foods.

Pixie Hollow

Rooms:

The rooms in Pixie Hollow will be much different to get to as guests will pass over a path into an area that makes them feel small, turning them to the size of pixies. The rooms here will be set in a small world of Pixie Hollow, that is built by Tinker Bell and her friends. There will be cabins shaped like Tea Cups and Bird Houses, etc. and the inside will have furniture that will be beyond anything in any disney hotel currently existing.

Dining:

1:The Quick Service

Pixie hollow will be the location of the Quick Service Restaurants for the hotel.

2: Fairy Feast Hall:

Character Dining: this character Dining Experience, features Tinker Bell and her friends, and will allow guests to experience larger than life foods that grow with every course, afterall in this area guests are supposed to be shrunken down and smaller.

Pool Amenities

The pool in this area will also be themed around TinkerBell and will appear to be in a Puddle, left behind by Neverland

Amenities:

1;A Boutique/Gift Shop: this is meant to bring this area into reality providing a gift shop, as we know how concerned tink was with her looks in the film.

2;The bus station elevators:

In order to get to the parks from this hotels guests will use a separate set of elevators within Pixie Hollow where Tink and her friends deliver guests to the bus Station connecting the Hotel To Florida, to keep with Immersion.

3: Peterpan, Wonderland, Poppins and Pooh

The last concept arguably is more of an Immersive water park than a hotel, if that is the case then why not take guests to a Disneyfied, version of England, taking in stories from throughout the UK and putting them together to create a hotel that is English, and yet still Disney.

Unlike my Neverland Concept, this hotel will be inspired by the English Stories.

Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland,Winnie the Pooh And Peter Pan, and will be more similar to the Art of Animation or All Star Movies Hotels than the other two concepts previously discussed.

Peter Pan would of course have the pool and Water Playground.

While Alice in WonderLand would have a Maze, and statues where guests can take pictures with the statues, and perhaps the Tea and Gift Shops.

Winnie the Pooh would be similar with a Honey themed Water Slid and Playground.

And Mary Poppins will house majority of the Restaurants, and boutiques

This concept is an interesting one for discussion and would be remarkable to see at WDW in the future.

The basic concept is that SHIELD has set up a Base, at WDW, in Florida and is monitoring a situation where Guests must team up with the Avengers while on their vacation.

The Hotel will be set at the Avengers compound in rooms set in the MCU. Each room will come with F.R.I.D.A.Y Iron Man's AI assistant, which will act like D3-O9 from the Galactic Star Cruiser and will participate in missions that they will as they stay at this HOTEL/Experience.
