Concept for Disney AP’s to have better value:
Firstly, I apologize to my readers who have been awaiting my next article, i have recently moved to central FL and now have become a Disney Annual Passholder(At LAST), i have already taken full advantage of it and have gone to multiple parks on each of my five visits to the parks in the last few weeks since my move. While I love(to an obsession level) Disney parks and of course my Disney AP, I am obviously not your average park goer, as I go to the parks in the name of conceptualizing and critiquing of what can be better in the parks. Currently the value of the Disney Incredi-pass- their top tier pass which i hold is amazing, but what if Disney could sweeten the pot for those of us with Disney AP’s who are locals. Currently the Disney Incredi-pass sells for roughly $1400, which is equivalent to about 4 park hopper passes, and comes with amazing discounts on Dining, shopping and hotels as well as free standard parking, but many of their passholders I would argue are Floridians and locals who want to go to the Disney Parks afterwork or on their days off(like myself) and Disney can boost their sales of these passes by updating the passes to include the following features which I will discuss.
EARLY PARK ENTRY ,AFTER HOURS EVENTS & 24 HOUR DISNEY FOR PASSHOLDERS.
One event that took place in my youth was the 24 hour disney event where Disney kept certain parks open 24 hours for guests who had to pay for an event ticket, while this is a challenge given that Disney is still under staffed, i believe that giving AP holders access to all extended park hour events as part of their ticket would sweeten the deal for the $1400 that they spend annually to enter the parks.Adding this feature to the passes will boost AP sales as guests especially locals will spend their entire Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday Morning in the parks from sunrise until sunset, just to avoid being out in the long lines in the hot sun. This is not to mention the after dark lighting of locations such as Pandora in Animal Kingdom, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios which both are beautiful at night, and Passholders should be allowed to experience said locations at night without the need to pay another $100-$300 for an after hours ticket. Therefore I would argue disney can boost sales of not only Annual passes but food and merchandise within the parks by giving their AP holders unrestricted after hours access to select parks every night and access to the afterhours events regardless of if they have an event ticket, in the name of boosting sales of these items to boost revenues, where the extra $100-$300 doesn't seem worth it to AP holders when they already pay between $700-$1400 for their Disney AP.
FREE DISNEY FASTPASS
The next item on this list that I think can be added to the Disney annual pass is Free Genie+ and Lightning Lane. Many guests already dislike Genie+ and Lightninglane due to it being a replacement for the former free fast pass system. Many of the Disney Loyalists who enjoyed Disney fastpass who would remember this service i would argue are annual pass holders today. So why doesn't Disney sacrifice the bad press and boost AP sales by bringing back the free fast pass system for AP holders only. This would undoubtedly boost AP sales but also give Disney the good press that they desperately need from their loyalists who have stood by them for years. The way it could work would be more similar to Universals Unlimited Express, where guests approach the entrance to the ride and scan into the lightning lane entrance as an AP holder, not needing to make reservations for the service like normal guests with Genie+ but instead, allowing AP holders to not need to make the reservation, approach the line and hop right into the cue as many times as they want, however I would update so that guests cannot ride the same ride twice in a row and instead must ride another attraction between each scan of their AP.By doing this the Disney Loyalists(AP holders) will regard this in high standard and luxury, and will give disney the good press it needs.
NO MORE PARK RESERVATIONS AND NON-CONSTRAINED PARK HOPPING
One of my biggest pet peeves of my Disney AP is that I only get to park hop after 2:00 pm and still require a park reservation in order to enter a park, while it is my understanding reservations for normal day ticket guest will disappear in january, but not for AP holders, I think it should be reversed as day ticket guests are most likely staying in a Disney Hotel or coming from out of state, where AP holders are locals who just want to spur of the moment take a trip to disney world, because their bored. The way I would fix this would be Florida Resident tickets should not require park reservations and AP holders should not require park reservations. However hotel guests and out of state single day guests should have a reservation allowing all local guests the ability to just show up at the park they desire and enter. The obstruction of the 2:00pm park hopping is also a constraint for Pass holders due to the fact that passholders generally will park hop but will spend a couple hours in each park they enter. Pass holders should be held up in a higher regard by Disney and allowing them to jump between parks with ease will benefit them and boost AP sales with such encouragement due to them being able to move throughout WDW resort unconstrained by their cellular data and need for the APP.
CONCLUSION
It is my opinion that most Passholders and Disney Loyalists and such must be treated to a higher regard than the average park guest and given special services and features with our purchase of $700-$1400 because we come and spend more time in the parks than most guests as returning visitors who will be in the parks everyday not only on vacation but as pillars of Disney in society. We shouldn’t have to break the bank to experience the parks and further should be given further benefits for supporting Disney Parks as the happiest place on earth.
See you real soon,
M.S
