Not Another Over The Top Galactic Star Cruiser Article

As a fan of all things Disney Star Wars and Disney Parks in general, I do not understand what the business analysts and price makers for Walt Disney World are thinking. It has become apparent to me as a fan of the parks in the middle class, single income adult household range, that I cannot afford to do a basic non-Galactic Star Cruiser Disney Trip given the circumstances of the current economy and my income. While Disney does aim towards families normally and not single income or even dual income no kid households, Galaxy’s Edge historically was marketed to the Disney Adults and Star Wars Enthusiast as well as families. While Disney’s elitist price makers for the parks claim to be this “woke” crowd they are alienating the middle and lower class American household in favor of the wealthy and the elitist that they claim not to be.  As a fan on the outside looking in it is obvious the problems looking from the ground up at Disney, are there principles of being Elitist and want to be exclusive for the Elite only.

As a Native Floridian I have grown up with the disney parks some years even taking 4 trips a year, during my upbringing. While this may have been as part of a nuclear dual income family, Disney’s main target of influence, I was unable to experience Galaxy’s Edge until after the Parks Reopened at the end of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and when the Galactic Star Cruiser was announced I had wanted to save up for that trip following my first Galaxy’s edge trip, and I had four friends at least who wanted to do this trip with me. Each of us are single Income young adults, Ages 21-26, the Disney Adult Age Range. We attended “cons” and Renaissance Festivals together, and each of us(at the time)had a single income that ranged from lower class to middle class single income households. We were all set, many of us pre ordering our cosplays on Etsy for it and even following the plans for it closely on the internet, every article being read and shared with the group as we awaited the announcement of its opening last March.

When the pricing was announced my heart sank, two of my friends who had been super excited and into it wanting to experience it dropped out of our plan to go due to the $6000 price range that it would cost for the four of us to go. While this would have made about $1.5K for each of us, he claimed it was “too Expensive” “looked Cheap” and “wasn’t worth it” due to the financial issues that were beginning to arise due to inflation. This now left two of us who still absolutely want to go, but I would have to front over 2K-3K and she would have to hand over 1K-2K in order for us to do this trip together, which for her is out of the question as it would “Take a few months of saving” for her to attend a voyage. My thought then became why not try and convince them to go by offering my friend who still wanted to go, and her friends who i did not know the chance to do this with us and instead we get a larger suite and invite the original other two who wanted as well bring it to about 6 people 2K per person in one of the larger more detailed $12,000 suites. Well we met with these friends at the Renaissance festival and as such they weren’t necessarily the people, the other two liked being around and the feeling was mutual for me. Bringing us back to stage one.

With the current rate of inflation and the means of survival vs entertainment becoming the new norm for people, the Galactic Star Cruiser will not succeed, as many of its potential audience can’t afford it, due to the sacrifices that will be needed to be made to go on it, many are unable to take the time to go on this trip despite the demand to go. Disney’s surveyist who ask if people want to go are most likely getting the correct answer of the demand being out there, but the question really is “do you want to experience the galactic star cruiser?” followed by “can you afford it?” The results would reveal a shocking truth to Disney, who have priced out its lower and middle class audience from even attempting to make reservations, where I foresee a lot of demand for this hotel.

So Disney I will say it as clear as day, the problem isn’t the Galactic Star Cruiser as an experience, the problem is prices, nothing more nothing less.  If Disney could find a way to cut the prices in half 12K-6K, 10K-5K, 6-3K, 4K-2K, they will no longer have a problem with attendance and can consider this endeavor a late blooming success. As of right now, its reviews are great and its want to price out the people who they find undesirable is fair, but there are desirables now in the undesirable price range and thus by keeping these prices at its current range there is a problem that they can’t solve.

Secondly, while I have decided against talking Politics, Disney has been backing a political party that seems to alway cause mass inflation scenarios within the United States causing prices to increase on all goods. While this might not be an issue for the elitist Walt Disney World Company, this is a problem for many of their potential consumers and potential Galactic Star Cruiser Guests. Guests don’t want to spend the amount of a down payment on a house or twenty four months of groceries to do a two night star wars experience, that will put them in debt following their voyage. Disney’s higher ups should make a one hundred and eighty degree turn on their political stance, upholding their opponent parties beliefs in strong business and a stronger US economy, hence solving multiple problems within their business including their cast member union problems allowing them to boost pay’s beyond just “a dollar raise” as the US economy improves following their support as well as their ability to drop prices resort wide, including for the Galactic Star Cruiser, as well as regain the trust of the Native Floridians who they betrayed following the Parental Rights Bill, that they misinterpreted and lost their Reedy Creek as consequence for turning their backs on the State Florida.

Lastly, as mentioned in another article Disney could also potentially close parts of  the starcruiser down and reopen it with an aft section as mentioned in my other article adding more rooms and services in order to cut prices further. Read that article titled “Star Wars Galactic Star Cruiser: A wannabe Disney Creative’s concept for saving the Halcyon” on the blog. This would be a less cost effective measure but if it can cut down prices from 6K-3K,4K-2K and boost attendance, I think it's well worth the risk for Disney to at least consider the ideas and concepts in the other article.

While I am not an expert in the least of Economics, I do have an understanding of how companies and of how our economy works, as well as who Disney could be catering to, the Single income, dual income no kids, and low income markets they will increase revenues and be able to fill the galactic starcruiser, and save it from being a total failure, shutting its doors before fans with demand for it are able to experience it because it wasn’t affordable. If they don’t believe me,bring me in as a consultant to assist the parts of the company dealing with Disney Parks in guest outreach in economics to find not only the lowest price the parks can charge for goods and services before it's in the red, because as of right now that is what's needed to get the parks back on track and for the Galactic Star Cruiser to succeed. If not, at least bring me in as a consultant in some sort of creative capacity to help the company come up with new services and solutions to assist in rescuing the starcruiser and other failing products within the parks, I am certain I will make a great addition to the WDW team. Let's not waste millions, let's make them.
