Wizarding World Generation 2 Wands: What I want to see from Universals newest Immersive invention.

Wizarding World Generation 2 Wands: What I want to see from Universals newest Immersive invention.

Hello Readers,

Today I wish to discuss my thoughts on the new wands(Gen 2 wands) at Universal, and what I hope to see in the next couple of months.

Variety

As of today Universal Creative have only announced the 4 existing models of wands. These wands are spectacular, costing only $85 per wand, however this lack of variety can prove an issue. I suspect eventually Gen 2 Wands will have alot more variety, for Guests to play with however, my thoughts are clear on this matter. I want all current wands that are available in Gen 1 interactive wands to have a variety in the choice of wands that are available for purchase. In particular Fantastic Beasts Dumbledore’s Wand, Hermione’s Wand, Harry’s Wand and the Elder Wand variant should all be available as Gen 2. This would benefit Universal Sales, as guests will have a greater variety and be able to purchase the wands increasing daily wand sales per day across both Parks, and City Walk.

Higher Quality

Currently the Gen 2 wands are made of Plastic, instead of the resin that most fans are used to being the wands that have been being used at UO(Universal Orlando) since they opened in 2010 before the interactive wands were a thing. While I understand the lighting effects won’t work through the resin, perhaps the addition of Metal, leather or wood to the hilts of these wands can increase quality and prices, on select wands.

More Physical Product Customization

The wands themselves as mentioned don’t have many options and all options as of now are the same 4 varieties, but they seem to just be the same two models of wand in different colors, the ability to have every wand be different could prove useful for Universal in selling the wands and given that no two wands are the same in appearance in the Wizarding World, this would add to this element, perhaps different colors of Wood and effect pieces is the route to go, but the addition of variety of colors, and details could make the wands more interesting and increase variety and style, to the wands holder.

More Digital Customizations

It was baffling to me that currently there are only 4 patronus options on the APP, this is shocking given that there are more than a dozen different Patronus’ that exist in the Wizarding World. I think Universal Creative needs to link their APP for these Digital Customizations to Pottermore, to add the die hard fan’s patronuses of all variety’s as well as different colors and types of magical reactions based on the players Wand Type and core adding more ways to play within the Wizarding World.

Adventures

Aside from the wand itself the app will also need some updates. The ability to Repeat Spells without the need to redo entire Missions would be useful for returning guests, as to not need to repeat every single time they arrive.

Also with the adventures, Guests need to be informed better that they need to complete and learn new spells in order to cast in certain locations it isn’t all just automatic. Both times I have been to universal since release, i have seen guests stand in line for ten minutes at least or take spots in line for guests doing the adventures who don’t know why they can’t fight the Dementor in the Stairway in Knockturn Alley, only for the Team Member to make their way over and try to explain to them that they need to be doing the Dark Arts Adventure to Cast this spell and interact with that Spell.

Perhaps some co-op adventures with other members of your part can be fun for guests as well traveling in groups of 2 or more, with multiple wands.

Conclusion

What do you think should be added to the Gen 2 wands, do you have any thoughts, comment and check the blog monthly for content.
